What does a typical wedding coordinator do during the actual marriage ceremony? Although the duties of a wedding coordinator can vary greatly amongst different companies, there are many tasks frequently managed by the wedding coordinator for the marriage ceremony. The coordinator usually shows up several hours before the wedding and makes sure that the bride, groom, bridesmaids and groomsmen, and people in the ceremony can be found somewhere around the facility. He or she also makes sure that the flowers arrive and get properly distributed, as well as the wedding cake arriving and getting set up at the reception. The coordinator also makes sure the church or other facility is decorated as per the bride’s requests.

The wedding coordinator also gathers together the family members who will walk down the aisle at the start of the ceremony and makes sure they know their order. He or she will often stand at the back and send the grandparents, bridesmaids and groomsmen, and the bride and father down the aisle at the appropriate times. While all of this is going on, the wedding coordinator needs to have the wedding reception logistics running around in his or her mind. Is the caterer setting up the room right? Is the food going to be cooked and ready in time? Is the temperature in the room comfortable? These are just a few considerations for wedding coordinators on the day of the wedding.
